This is the CD DigiPak for Foals' second album release, Total Life Forever. This image was taken from the Sub Pop Records website Here we can see the front cover of the album, which is the blue image of the band underwater. The band are renowned for breaching conventions, hence why there is no title of the album or even band name. This is due to the band's philosophy which is purely based upon an established fan base; they do not want 'wannabe' fans and want fans to like them for who they are as opposed to an artist who may be known for one hit wonders. On the left of the image we can see the inside of the booklet including some unique artwork by their fellow Oxford friend, Tinhead. He again will be recognised by devoted fans with a unique sketching style and bold shapes which can also be seen on Foals' debut album: he has become almost integrated into the band as a fellow member. His artwork is very recognisable yet abstract, which relates to this abstractness, ambiguities and underlying themes that develop in the indie genre. On the right hand side we can see the middle of the booklet that shows a two-page spread of a shot for the band. The image shows vivid imagery and colours; some of the props seen in this image can also be seen in the music videos from the singles of the album. The colour blue is a theme that runs throughout the album and their imagery in music videos. This is due to their reinvented 'mellow' sound which has developed compared to their debut album which is an indie/math-rock album.
This is the box set version of the album that Foals have offered to consumers, more specifically dedicated fans of the band. This box set will cost a significant amount more, however will come with the CD version of the album, full artwork with some exclusive artwork by Tinhead. The artwork reflects the mood within the album or, as mentioned before, some imagery seen in the music videos of the singles from the album, such as the tree seen on the LP inner cover is seen in the video for 'This Orient'. LPs are known to be high fidelity sound, a higher quality of sound compared to other formats such as CDs. Therefore, as the band are an indie band and have the philosophy of 'music over economy' they offer their audiance the option to also listen to the album on a high fidelity format.
